Welcome!

Welcome to FMEV! This site is one of many sites dedicated for people that either already have or want to install a computer in their car, truck, boat, etc. I setup this site to help other people with their carputers.

Are you planning to build a carputer? Don't know how?
I have some guides posted to help, all the guides posted I have personally done and still use.
Check out the guides sections.
I only post guides that I have tested and actually work.

Curious about where to install a carputer?
Check out the past meets section. You will see quite a few carputers.

You want to see carputers in person? Planning to build one yourself?
To find out where check out Next Meet section. I am trying to do a meet every other month, each one at a different city in Florida.
We trade info on how we each did our own carputer, offer ideas, comments and suggestions.
Also highly recommended to come to a meet if you are starting or planning to install a carputer for the first time.

What parts to buy or use?
Hit the links section.
I posted some sites that sell some or all the parts to build a carputer.
I Also list sites that have complete "kits" that are ready to install.

Using any/all of these guides and/or following these guides may VOID any/all warranty
on any/all parts, tools, equipment, etc...

FMEV.COM is NOT responsible for any physical, mental, financial, mechanical, electrical, emotional damages WHAT SO EVER!

Operating a personal computer in any vehicle can/will/is dangerous. Highly recommend that you only use your carputer when your vehicle is parked/stopped/NOT MOVING.

Check with the local and/or state government in your areas for laws and guidelines regarding the use of electronic devices in your vehicle. Improper use or negligence can result in damage and or loss of life to self and others. Think Safety. Some places, like here in Florida, displays must not be distracting to the driver and should not display motion video or otherwise distracting content.

Here's how it is in Florida:
316.303 Television receivers.--

(1) No motor vehicle operated on the highways of this state shall be equipped with television-type receiving equipment so located that the viewer or screen is visible from the driver's seat.

(2) This section does not prohibit the use of television-type receiving equipment used exclusively for safety or law enforcement purposes, provided such use is approved by the department.

(3) This section does not prohibit the use of an electronic display used in conjunction with a vehicle navigation system.

(4) A violation of this section is a noncriminal traffic infraction, punishable as a nonmoving violation as provided in chapter 318.

History.--s. 1, ch. 71-135; s. 1, ch. 76-31; s. 26, ch. 94-306; s. 218, ch. 99-248.

Note.--Former s. 316.275.
